Team Think!

Every organization faces challenges and growth pain. Let us help you discover the amazing opportunities that are hidden in your team.  We’ll partner together, either online or on-site, to uncover what is holding you back, and create strategies for long term success.

The most successful teams welcome and integrate a diversity of perspectives. In fact, this is the only way to effectively innovate and problem solve. When opposing viewpoints are welcomed and dialogue is embraced with respect and rigorous dissection, problems are discovered before they become crises and solutions are presented for resolution.

There is an infectious, positive energy that directly impacts a robust bottom line.

Conflict Resolution

Transforming Conflict to Creative Solutions

Motivation + Continuous Feedback + Assertive Communication = Innovation

Conflict is a result of the difference between our perception and the reality of any given situation. Yet there is always a way through conflict to creative solutions and the formula has three main ingredients:

Motivation

It’s time to love what you do and be who you are.

This matters – a lot – to your fulfillment and to your employees. The more we understand ourselves, the more we can take responsibility for getting our core needs met, and recognizing the needs of others.

Generally, there are four patterns of motivational core needs. By understanding yours first, you will better met your needs and that of your team members.

Do You Know?

  1. What motivates you – and your team members – to show up and do the best work?
  2. How do you and your team members – most like to be encouraged & rewarded?
  3. How do you and your team members – most like to be corrected or critiqued?

Continuous Feedback

There’s only four types of feedback:

  • Supportive – for a behavior repetition
  • Corrective – for a behavior change
  • Insignificant – for a minimal response
  • Abusive – for an angry and defensive response

Feedback Rule of Thumb: 5:1

The only two types of feedback that matter are the first and second. And the type of feedback you need to be practicing NOW is positive feedback. Specifically, a 5:1 ratio positive and timely feedback for every constructive criticism to motivate change.

Essential to high performing teams, feedback is your data from the past, given in the present, to impact the future. No feedback is actually a form of psychological punishment and the primary reason high-performers leave their job.

High performers offer more positive feedback to peers; in fact, high-performing teams share nearly six times more positive feedback than average teams. Meanwhile, low-performing teams share nearly twice as much negative feedback than average teams.” (HBR, October 25, 2016)

Assertive Communication

Assertive: The Win: Win Solution

Assertive Communication provides us the best opportunity to be heard and understood, and to understand the difference between our intention and our impact.

Assertive Communication is our ability to make our needs, thoughts and opinions known respectfully, even when doing may cause conflict or cause us to stand alone and against the crowd.

I Win: You Win or Let’s Start Over Again:

What is the calm, rational approach to respectfully express our needs and not alienate the other person? Assertive communication doesn’t guarantee an outcome, but it does guarantee you the best opportunity to be heard and understood – and it increases your problem solving and satisfaction.

Who’s Your Team Toad? A Personal Path to Inclusion

Projection creates the categories of us and them. It’s our fast track to polarization, to exclusion, to the need to dominate what we fear we cannot control. It’s also a vicious circle because when we’re alienated from what is within us, we will aggressively attempt to control and subjugate what is without.
